Kirke Adams 1940 - 1944 S. Kirke Adams, born in Ozark, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Adams. His grandparents were Judge and Mrs, C.A.B. Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Harris Adams, all of Ozark. He attended Dale County High School and Auburn University. Prior to entering county politics, he served as a member of the city council of Ozark for 10 years. For a number of years, he was in the fertilizer business and with Columbian Peanut Company. He is a business partner in Ward and Adams Dry Cleaners, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Ozark. He is a lifetime resident of Ozark, a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Official Board. He is also a member of the Civitan Club and is treasurer of the Retarded Children's Association. In 1935 he married Eleanor Wallace, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. G. 0. Wallace of Barbour County. They have two children, Mrs. Ben Reeves of Eufaula, and Joe W. Adams, who is associated with Henry B. Steagall in law practice in Ozark. During his last term as Probate Judge he succeeded in guiding the county to a debt free position which enabled the new $650,000 courthouse to be constructed without any additional taxation.
