He served as member of the Board of Trustees of Mobile College, the newest state four-year Baptist college, and was President of the Bogardus S. Cairns chapter of AUSA 1964-1965. Wilmer Parker has served in numerous civic capacities, having been president of the Ozark Kiwanis.Club, the Ozark Quarterback Club, and charter member of the Ozark Rotary Club. He is now serving as president of the Ozark-Dale County Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the Water Board and the Ozark School Board. He holds membership in American Legion Post No. 82 and Vet- erans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4448. He is a member of the Ozark Baptist Church, serving as a deacon since 1948, and was minister of music there for 12 years. He is married to the former Annie Laura Ragsdale of Ozark. They have three children, Wilmer, III, 18; Virginia, 15; andLaura-Louise, 7. Wilmer Parker was born in Ozark, Alabama, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Parker, Sr. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Pippin, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. .Stephen D. Parker. He graduated from Dale County High School and attended the University of Alabama, from which he received a bachelor of science degree in business in 1943. He also attended Georgetown University, Washington, R C., and the University of Alabama Law School. A veteran of World War II he fought in the European theatre and was discharged as First Lieutenant in 1946, having received a battlefield commission with the 102nd "Ozark" Infantry Division. He served with the Bank of Ozark in several capacities for 17 years, and is now serving on the Board of Directors. He is the organizer and a memberof a national life insurance company, United Family Life. He is the promoter and part owner of Downtown East Shopping Center in Ozark.
