CLAYBANK JAMBOREE BEGINNING-Sunday officially kicked off the Claybank Jamboree. Shown at Claybank cemetery, with Clayhank Church shown in the background are, from left, Miss Bernice Kingsley. Val McGee. program chairman Ann Rudd, Glenn Wells, and Janie Stephens. The group is shown at the gravesite of the Rev. Dempsy Dowling, the first preacher to preach at Claybank Church, and an early settler of Dale County. Wells, and Miss Kingsley are great great grandchildren of Rev. Dowling, who was born in 1783,.and died in 1865. The Claybank Jamboree calls attention to the heritage of Dale County and Ozark, and offers a variety of arts, crafts and antiques which will be on display and for sale during the climax of the event October 7-8-.
