Mr. Dominey's Success In Automobile Business Due To Service To Customers Popular Young Business Man Active In Civic And Religious Life of Ozark; Sound Business Policies Spell Success Physically, there was nothing to distinguish Mr. S. S. Dominey's first automobile firm from the scores of Service Stations and garages in Ozark. The same service station equipment was used, the same garage facilities were em- ployed to serve auto and truck owners. However, beyond physical similarity, there was much to distinguish Mr. Dominey's business from others of this area. It was the community auto service station, the first one-stop station in this city. It was the communiy auto service station with a personality. At this station there was an added "something" that customers noticed every time they traded there. Attendants were a little more courteous—service had a touch of more personal interest. Mr. Dominey grew with the automobile business. He met every demand of a fast changing industry. He kept pace with constant improvements. He expanded his ser- vice to meet the trade's requirements and when he secured the Chevrolet franchise he was seasoned in the automobile business with full knowledge of the service expected and demanded by the public. It is only logical that such a business, with an appreciation of its responsibilities to the motoring public should not only succeed, but become the cornerstone of a business institution that was bound to enlarge and prosper. Mr. Dominey is a civic leader as well as a successful business man. He has served as a member of the City Board of Education, as a member of the City Water Board, is a director in The Bank of Ozark and a Deacon in the Ozark Baptist Church. He is a native of Ozark, the youngest son of the late Mr. R. E. Dominey and Mrs. Dominey. * Samuel Sessions Dominey,Sr., b Nov. 16, 1903 d Oct. 1, 1958, buried Westview Memorial Cem. Mr. S. S. Dominey entered the automobile business twenty-years ago when he purchased the Bee line Auto Co., from Dumlin BECK in June 1929. Mr. Dominey obtained the Chevrolet franchise in December, 1933, and his first cars were the 1934 model. The Bee Line Auto Co., had a long and successful career in Ozark. Established in the early twenties by the late Garner GOODBREAD the firm was one of Ozark's early Service Stations and auto garages. Because of its location on U. S. 231 it was named Bee Line Auto Co. On its opening day Mr. Goodbread announced the firm's motto and policy: "Business Goes Where It Is Invited and Stay's Where It Is Well Treated." Mr Dominey has continued that policy throughout his 20 years as owner, and one has only to point to the present handsome new home of the firm to declare this policy successful. Mr. Dominey operated this business for many years. In 1933 he obtained the Chevrolet franchise for this area, and set up this agency where White Motor Co., is now located. He continued to operate the Service Station across the street. Mr. Dominey later moved into the building he now occupies and a few years ago changed the firm's name to Dominey Motor Co. The sound busineas policy of Dominey Motor Co., together with the unexcelled service they rendered soon established this firm in the business circles of Ozark. The business has grown with the community until today it is recognized as one of the largest agencies in Southeast Alabama. ~~~~~~~~~~ This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/alfiles/ File size: 4.4 Kb
