J. Perry, 74, well known resident of Maplesville Community whose death ocurred Saturday at his home after a illness of five months were held at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Maplesville Baptist Church with Paul Oden officiating. Interment was made in the Maplesville Cemetery with Jud Breslin directing. Pallbearers were: J. E. Wallace, J. C. Atchison, J. R. Bearden, Emmett Shanks, I. A. Dennis and J. E. Dennis. Mr. Perry had been a resident of Maplesville for some 25 years past, and was well known through out that section. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jennie Lou (Tom B.) Cox of Selma, Mrs. Sallie (Frank D.) Young, Miss Annie Perry, of Maplesville, and three sons, Thomas E. Perry, Frank J. Perry, and Joseph Pettus Perry all of Maplesville. There are also sixteen grandchildren. Additional Comments: L. J. Perry was born Sept. 24, 1858 in Perry Co., Alabama to Benjamin Franklin Perry and Sarah Jane Taylor Perry. He was the grandson of Britton Perry and Mary Dennis of Perry Co., Al. and Pleasant Taylor of Dallas Co., Al. L. J. Perry married Mary Frances "Fannie" Wiley of Plantersville on Jan. 17, 1882 in Dallas County, Alabama. They were married 51 years and raised nine children.
