It was split this way to make it easier to read. Will of Joseph Huddleston In the name of God Amen. I JOSEPH HUDDLESTON do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit. It is my will and desire that all my just debts be final paid and the balance of my estate I bequeath as follows To my son Joseph Carter Huddleston one negro woman named Rose and her son Scip & any other children she may have during her life, also one negro man named Tom, one negro boy named John, one negro boy named Jeffrey, one negro man named Alive & his wife Ann. One negro man named Ive (a blacksmith) and his wife Fann to belong to him and his heirs forever. I will and bequeath to my son Allen Huddleston one negro man named James (a blacksmith) and his wife Jude one negro boy named Richmond, one negro boy named Milledge, one negro boy named Washington, one negro boy named Jackson, one negro girl named Harriett, one negro girl called Caroline, and one negro man named John to belong to him and his heirs forever. I will and bequeath my daughter Lucy Goss, Mary a negro woman and her three children, Ann a negro woman and her three children, one negro man named Scott, and one negro woman named Phebe to belong to her and her heirs forever. I will and bequeath to my well beloved wife Jean Huddleston one negro man named Marcus (now in the possession of my son-in-law F. Goss, one negro man named Shelton, one negro woman named Mary Ann - Bed sheet, bed and furniture, the side board now in my house, and cupboard, three cows, and calves, one horse, her own choice, one saddle and Bridle & one fourth part of the table & kitchen furniture, to belong to her & her heirs forever. It is my will and desire that all my negroes not specifically willed away and all other property not mentioned in this will shall be put and remain under the direction and management of George Phillips and my son Joseph Carter Huddleston. The crop that is made in the year eighteen hundred and twenty five is gathered cleaned and disposed of or sold for the purpose of paying off my debts. During this period it is my will and desire that my well beloved wife Jean Huddleston, if she desires it, may remain with and be supported on the proceeds of the crop under the discretion of my executors. It is then my will and desire that a negro boy named Charles be given to my son Joseph C. Huddleston and to belong to him and his heirs forever and all the rest of my property I wish to be equally divided amongst my three children Allen Huddleston, Lucy Goss, & Joseph C. Huddleston, either by valuation or sale or part one way and part the other, as my executors in their discretion my desire most for the benefit of my heirs. I do hereby nominate & appoint George Phillips and Joseph Carter Huddleston executors of this my last will and testament, and do hereby revoke all former wills and testaments by me hereto for made.
