Per M. M. Tally, it was built by Methodist churchmen from the North. All grades were taught here, including some "college level" classes. Children attended the school in the late 1890s or early 1900s. Some teachers who taught here were Sam Driskill, Palestine "Pal" Simpson, Lera (Sarah?) McNaron. A German stone cutter made the rock structure. The school no longer stands (2010) except for large foundation stones grown over with weeds. Aunt "Pal" rode her horse side-saddle each day to school. She also smoked a pipe or a little brown cigar. Annie Carr Killian, granddaughter of Joseph Carr, took me to see Red Hill Community in 1989.
