Samuel ROWAN was a Revolutionary Pensioner, from SC to TN to AL. Samuel Rowan Will In the name of God Amen. I, Samuel Rowan, of DeKalb County and the state of Alabama, being advanced in years, blessed by God of a sound judgement and memory do make and constitute this to be my last will and testament, first committing my soul to God who gave it to me to be saved by Him through the mercy of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. I also resign my body to the dirt from whence it was taken. I also request to be decently buried by my executors, and as for my worldly goods which His providence hath bestowed upon me I will they be disposed of in the following manner and first of all I will that all of my just debts and funeral charges be paid. Secondly that my daughter Polly Isbell and my son John and the heirs of my daughters Rebecca and Elizabeth and Nancy, I will that the above named children shall have one dollar to each of them. My sons William and Samuel to get fifty dollars each out of the money coming from James Anthony in Tennessee Lyncoln (sic) County. I will also that Peggy's boy Pleasant shall have fifty dollars to continue in the hands of my executors, or they may put it in the hands of some proper person for the benefit of schooling of said Pleasant. I also will that he get forty dollars out of my property when he comes of age. My wife to have what of my property and notes that will procure her a home including what money we have. There is forty eight dollars 91 cents put into my hands for Elizabeth Monks rec'd for (from?) Mary Monks there is forty one dollars 91 cents (__?__) to continue in the hands of my executors until they come of age or lawful guardians be appointed to receive it. There is also in the hands of Robert (Barcten?) seven dollars or a bed of Mary Monks for the above named two girls is the proper heirs of John Monks, deceased. My wife to have a comfortable support during her natural life and what may remain at her death to be equally divided between my four youngest children viz. William, Margaret, Sarah and Samuel. Thomas Garrett and my son William Rowan to be my executors of this my last will and testament. Signed (sealed?) and acknowledged to be my last will this (__?__) in presence of us.
