It was originally classified as being in the town of Ware, Montgomery Co., AL but that town has not existed since around the early 1900?s. On February 15, 1866 the area was rezoned to be included in the newer county of Elmore. The last known Postmaster for the tiny agricultural town was Lemuel Gulliver Dawson II, grandson of Eaves Bradford. There was much damage where trees have fallen over gates and stones. However, many stones are readable. There are a number of plain stones that could have been footstones but there was no headstone in site. There is also what appear to be homemade markers which are lined up evenly. They are nothing more than stones without inscriptions. Because of the haphazard nature of the layout in the cemetery, it is difficult to tell if these are intended to be footstones. The entire cemetery is about 50’ x 30’. From what can be told, it appears that the last burial was in 1906. The list below is done in order of placement. I have a picture of each of the graves. I may be contacted by email treeclimber865@aol.com for copies. Payne, Henrietta T. wife of J.C. Payne, b. June 5, 1845, d.
