Edelen II ==================================================================== November 2002 ROBINSON SPRINGS CEMETERY: Robinson Springs, Elmore County, Alabama Highway 14, in Millbrook, Elmore County, Alabama NOTE: Remember that prior to 1870 most of Elmore and Chilton Counties were part of Autauga County. I think even as far as Wetumpka was part of Autauga County back then. It was some time after the Civil War around 1866-1870 that large parts of Autauga and some from a couple of others were taken to form Chilton and Elmore counties. Robinson Springs Cemetery is about three miles from Prattville, which is in Autauga Co.. The Elmore/Autauga line is right along I-65 or somewhere close I think. Directions: If coming from Birmingham on I-65, get off on the 2nd Prattville Exit and take a left onto Highway 14. Robinson Springs Cemetery is right on Highway 14 and will be on your left right before or next to "Russell" Hardware, about a mile or two from I-65. If coming from Montgomery, take a right at the third Millbrook/Prattville exit onto Highway. 14. The cemetery is right on the left side of Highway 14 in a fenced in area, right before or beside Russell's. If coming from Wetumpka, come on to Millbrook/Robinson Springs on Highway 14. Not far past the Hardees you will see Russell Hardware on your right. The cemetery is right immediatly past it on your right next to Russell's. Robinson Springs Cemetery is sort of strange the way it is layed out, almost in clusters, and some family plots. The rectangular fenced in graveyard is parallell to Highway 14, but the rows or semi-rows are laying sort of diagonally to the fence in the yard, and many are in sort of clusters instead of rows, and some being scatteres about by themselves. I tired to write it all down as in rows, each row from Left to right, when possible. There is a sign saying it is maintained by Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 692. The graveyard is indeed fairly well maintained, except for a couple of graves that are overgrown. Theymust have been missing them. There are a lot of empty spaces between some of the graves and at ends of rows, etc., and many sunk in spots in the grave yard and in the little bit of woods in back of it and to one side of it. I think there are a lot of unmarked graves there. On the left and rear sides of the cemetery is a small strip of woods. In the woods and all throughout the little cemetery I noticed a lot of humps and sunken spots, so I bet there are a lot of unmarked graves in that cemetery. ============================================================== Left to Right as much as possible: 1st CLUSTER OR ROW, in far right corner of cemetery by themselves: 1.
