B. Boddie. He was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Tallassee, Nov. 30th. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. D. R. Bolin and Rev. A. G. Spinks, both of whom made splendid talks, especially did Rev. Spinks tell of the noble example Dr. Boddie had left for his children and others. In Russell County on the 25th of July 1846 he was born, and when but a small boy he moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Boddie to Elmore County, where he lived and grew up to manhood, during which time he professed a hope, gave his heart to Jesus and joined the Presbyterian Church. On the 9th day of Dec. 1872, he was married to Miss Irena Sarah Delony, to this happy union was born 9 children, 6 boys and 3 girls, and on the 25th day of July 1901, his dear companion was called to come up higher where she is waiting and watching for our coming. Since that time 4 of his children have departed this life, 2 girls, Mrs. Ola Mann and Mrs. Mae Baker; 2 boys, Charlie and Clifton. A few years later he was married to a Miss Warren, who soon departed this life and on the 4th day of Dec. 1911, he was married to Miss Narcie Reeves. Dr. Boddie has for over 50 years been a professional and successful cancer doctor. He also did a general practice, using medicine of all kinds, internal and external. The doctor has been in failing health for several months, still he administered unto the suffrering up until about 10 days of his departure. Dr. Boddie was not only faithful in discharging his duty to suffering humanity, but was a true, faithful christian and was a bery sympathetic man, and from his daily walk and work we believe he had been taught the divine lesson of humanity. It was his whole desire to speak words of comfort to every one he met. He was a true, kind and faithful husband and father, a good neighbor, a peaceful citizen. He said just before he passed away, that the end is near. His brother (Joe) said to him, you are not afraid to go? He said: "AFRAID"? Not a bit, the way is clear. We regret very much to give him up as we feel the need of men of his disposition, tho when we refer to the language of our Great Creator and read those lines of comfort where He never makes a mistake, and does all things well, is what we console ourselves with, and when we think of the noble things he has done and the many years he has been spared to be with us, we thank God for all these blessings. He leaves to mourn his loss, four sons, Bascom J., of Atlanta, GA.; Ada V., of Lanett, Ala.; Eugene and Cary, of Tallassee, Ala.; one daughter, Mrs. Cora Baker, of Wetumpka, Rt. 1; together with his companion, and a host of relatives and friends, to whom we say, a good man begins to live when he is dead. Blessed be the name of the Lord. We commend all the sorrowing ones to the unfailing Grace of God, through Jesus Christ.
