Funeral Rites Held
                       Last Thursday For
                         John B. Gaddis
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at Campbell-Brown Service
Chapel, for John Bass Gaddis, who died at his home Wednesday. The service was
conducted by the Rev. W. 0. Calhoun and burial was in the Wetumpka Cemetery.
Campbell-Brown, directors in charge.
Pallbearers were Albert L. Williams, Jr., Julian L. Snider, Dr. William L. Smith,
all at Montgomery, Ernest Collier, Merrill Wall and Ellis Austin.
Mr. Gaddis, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Gaddis, was born in
Wetumpka March 21, 1886. After graduating from the Wetumpka High School, he
attended prep school in Highland Falls, N. Y. He was given an appointment to West
Point, but did not accept. He attended the University of Alabama and was the oldest
living member of DKE Fraternity.
Mr. Gaddis was married Dec. 24, 1916, to Miss Naomi Bock of Bonifay, Fla.
lifelong member of the member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Helen Willams and Mrs.
Ella Snider, both of Montgomery; three grandsons, John Albert Williams, Robert
Scott Williams, Steven Gaddis Williams, all of Montgomery; two granddaughters,
Mrs. Naomi Snider Yocom, of Lancaster, Pa., Angela Snider, Montgomery; a great
grandson, Lee Bruce Yocom, Lancaster, Pa.; three brothers, Charles Gaddis,
Houston, Texas, Franklin Gaddis, Prattvllle, and
W.P. Gaddis, Berkley, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Gaddis Vittjen, Hitchcock,
Texas, and Miss Genevieve Gaddis, Wetumpka.
