He was the son of Stephen & Mary (Etheridge) Hawkins. On April 25, 1844 Bill married Elizabeth Adams, daughter of Soloman & Martha "Patsy" Corley Adams. In January 1845, their first child, Martha Margaret Hawkins was born. Margaret married William Jefferson Holladay on July 3, 1860. A second daughter was born to Bill and Elizabeth two years later and named Lavinia. Lavinia died as a young child. Their third child, Marianna C. was born in about 1849. She married John Hobbie/Hobby on March 24, 1887 in Lowndes County and later moved to Escambia County, AL. Elizabeth, their fourth child, was born in about 1851, never married, and also moved to Escambia County. Fifth child, John, was born about 1854 and apparently moved to Ellis Co., TX, though this is open for debate. William and Elizabeth's last child, Thomas Franklin Hawkins, was born about 1858. He married Emma Frances Frost on March 17, 1881 in Lowndes County. It seems to have been William "Bill" Hawkins influence that probably caused family members to migrate to Escambia County. William Jefferson Holladay was born about 1833. He was the son of James & Catherine (Acreman) Holladay. Two of William's older brothers, Nathan Floyd and James Henry, married Martha Margaret Hawkins' aunts, sisters to her father, William "Bill" Hawkins. Nathan Floyd married Frances "Fannie" Hawkins on July 9, 1846 in Lowndes County and James Henry married Martha Jane Hawkins on November 28, 1850 in Lowndes County. In later years, the Hawkins clan and Holladays were again neighbors at Brewton, Escambia County, AL, much as they had been earlier in Lowndes County. The Holladay family connects to my husband's Cutts line. I do have additional info on these families, thanks to several newly found Hawkins cousins: Mary Ann Nichols, Susan Riggs, Joyce Bodiker, and Marry Fronden. They have been gracious enough to share their hard earned research with me. Between us all we have gathered a fairly large amount of info. Please feel free to email me for additional information. My source for the body of this information is "Holladay Special - The Family of William Jefferson Holladay" by Herbert Weaver.
