RUSHING DIES FRIDAY OF OPERATION ATMORE, Ala., Feb. 24 - All Atmore and score of friends elsewhere mourned the passing early last Friday morning in a Mobile hospital of Joe Frank Rushing, 38, member of a family that has been prominent in South Alabama for many years. Mr. Rushing succumbed after an operation from stomach ailment about a week before. Since 1905 he had lived in Atmore, coming here from Troy, Ala., with his parents, Judge and Mrs. W. E. Rushing. He attended school here and graduated from the Escambia County High school. In recent years he was an employee of the Alabama Power company. Always a popular member of social circles of Atmore, the death of Mr. Rushing cast a pall of gloom over this city, and Saturday, when his funeral took place. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the home of his parents of South Main street. The Rev. C. J. Crawford, pastor of the First Baptist church officiated. Burial took place in Oak Hill cemetery. Active pallbearers were George Bowab, Byard Swift, Cliff Rankin, Charles Sowell, Sam Byrne, and Dr. A. L. Holloway. Fellow workers of the Alabama Power company served as honorary pallbearers. In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Rushing, left a sister, Mrs. Mary Peavy and a niece, Miss Laurie Peavy. One of his two deceased brothers was Billy Glenn Rushing, who lost his life in the World War and for whom the local American Legion Post is named. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Benson, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Springer, Mrs. Smith , Miss Blan, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chevis, Mr. and Mrs. Delmas Cook, Miss Gladys Williams and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Huxford, Mrs. Laurie Long, Mrs. F. I Spaulding, Jr., J. R. Bozeman, O. G. Anderson, R. S. Reiser, D. W. Burns, J. W. Rutherford, Beverly Christy, M. D. Rhodey, H. R. Kennedy all of Mobile; Mr. and Mrs. Deward(1) Rushing, Mrs. Minnie Youngblood, and Mrs. Fay Spivey, Mrs. Albert Rushing of Troy, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Brazil, and Miss Dasly Currie of Montgomery; W.
