MILES
Miles William Engle enlisted in Co G. of the 49th Alabama Infantry, fought at 
Shiloh, Port Hudson (captured, paroled), Nashville, Atlanta, promoted to corporal, 
surrendered with Polk's army in NC April 1865. Walked home to Alabama with his 
brother Wesley. Applied for pension 1902. buried at Bethlehem Baptist in Gallant, 
unmarked grave.
