J. W. BOUTWELL Published October 25, 1956 Boaz Leader Rev. J. M. Boutwell, 87, of Boaz Route 5 died Saturday, October 20 at 8:30 a. m. in a Gadsden hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. at the Carlisle Baptist Church with the Rev. A. V. Beaubee and Rev. Kress Davis officiating. Burial was in Thrasher Cemetery with Gillespie-Barksdale directing. Active pallbearers were S. J. James, Ralph and Robert Boutwell, James and Ralph Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Bartlett, Buster Murdock, Walter Daniel, J. T. Dewberry, Louis Mizzell and Wixie Golden. He is survived by one son, J. A. Boutwell of Boaz; one daughter, Mrs. G. W. Scott of Huntsville; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ed Boutwell of Mobile. Rev. Boutwell had been a minister for 40 years. A resident of the Carlisle Community, he donated the property for the Carlisle Church of God which was built in 1949. He was a member of the Alabama City Church of God and had lived on Sand Moutain since 1907.
