Published Thursday, May 15, 1958 in The Boaz Leader
Doogen Elkins, 57, passed away at 4:30 p. m. Saturday May 10th in a local 
hospital after an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Monday at the residence with Rev. W. D. 
Parrish officiating.  Burial was in the Thrasher's Cemetery with Gillespie-
Basrksdale directing.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Jo Ella Elkins, Route 1, Boaz; 2 brothers, Ped 
Elkins, Boaz Route 5 and Oliver Elkins, Boaz Route 1; three sisters, Mrs. 
Ernest Wilson, Altoona Route 3, Mrs. Oscar Simmons, Boaz Route 3 and Mrs. Miles 
Johnson, Boaz Route 2.
He was a native and life long resident of Etowah County and a retired farmer.
