Mrs. Joe Ella Elkins, age 83 of Rt. 1, passed away Wednesday, Nov.12th at her 
home following a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Thursday at Mountainboro Baptist Church 
with Rev. W. D. Parrish officiating.  Burial followed in Thrasher Cemetery with 
Gillespie-Barksdale directing.
Active pallbearers were Leon Elkins, Bernice Cross, L. E. Johnson, Norman 
Johnson, William Wilson and Buster Wilson.
She is survived by two sons, Ted of Boaz Rt. 5 and Oliver of Boaz Rt. 1; three 
daughters, Mrs. Caroline Simmons of Boaz Rt. 3, Mrs. Catherine Wilson of 
Altoona Rt. 3 and Mrs Scoop Johnson of Boaz Rt. 2; twenty-six grandchildren; 
and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Elkins was a native and life long resident of Etowah County and a member 
of the Mountainboro Baptist Church.
