George W. Garrard died in Gadsden at his home, with a heart attack.
He was born in 1872 on July 14th.
Funeral services were held at Shady Grove Church on Friday, June 27th.  Rev. E. 
E. Jones of Gadsden and Rev. Pat Taylor of Shady Grove officiated.
Surving are two daughters, Mrs. Y. Z. Royal of Texas and Mrs. Earl Newton of 
Alabama City; seven sons, General M. Garrard of Rt. 5, Boaz. Sharpe of Gadsden, 
Dock of Ocella, Ga., J. D. of Stock Bridge, Ga. and Jack of Stock Bridge, Ga.
He had nine children, thirty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
