She was a native of Calhoun County but had lived in this location for the past 33 years. She was a consecrated christian and a member of the church since early childhood. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 2, at 11 a. m. at the Bethel Baptist Church on the Attalla highway with the Rev. Emory Pankey officiating, assisted by Rev. Pat Taylor. Burial was in the Butler Cemetery with Gillespie- Barksdale Funeral Home directing. The active pallbearers were Johnie Golden, Ulas Rodgers, Ralph Underwood, Frank Underwood, Lawrence Underwood and Houston Underwood. She is survived by her husband, W. S. James, Attalla Rt. 1; three sons, Joseph James of Boaz Rt. 1, Cecil James, Boaz Rt. 5 and Silas James, Attalla Rt. 1; three daughters, Mrs. Lola Sweatt, Mrs. Mamie Oliver and Mrs. Leona Hudgins all of Attalla Rt. 1; two brothers, Tom Rodgers of Boaz Rt. 1 and Bill Rodgers of Cullman; three sisters, Mrs. Sybil Key, Casey, Ark., Mrs. Ruth Underwood of Boaz Rt. 1 and Mrs. Lou Golden of Section. Grand-daughters served as flower girls.
