R. E. JOHNSON

BOAZ—R. E. Johnson, 47, Carlisle businessman for the past 22 years, died last 
night in a local hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., tomorrow at Carlisle Baptist Church, 
the Rev. Sanford Bright, Kress Davis and Billy Smith officiating. Burial will 
be in Shady Grove cemetery, Gillespie—Barksdale directing.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Zudie Walker Johnson; a son, Dale Johnson, 
Carlisle; five brothers, Louie Johnson and T. A. Johnson, both of Boaz Route 
2; Elmer Johnson, Attalla Route 3; Roland Johnson, Attalla; Ralph Johnson, 
Gadsden; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Richards, Attalla, and Mrs. Mary Sue Reid, 
Gadsden; a grandson; three half-sisters. 

He was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County and a member of 
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was in te grocery and service station 
business.
