Wednesday in an Albertville Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Friday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dock Tidwell officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Gillespie-Barksdale directing. Active Pallbearers were Alvin Robertson, Lee Hubbard, Luther Walker, Mitchell Spradlin, R. B. Bruce and Henry Sewell, all deacons of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers were Reverends Emory Pankey, Jay Moore, John Hunt, and J. D. Dyar, former pastors and personnal friends. Surviving are her husband, J. C. Maddox; four sons, John L. Maddox of Deols Indre, France, Charles E. Maddox, Oak Lawn, Ill., Robert E. Maddox, Dallas, Texas and Donald Maddox of Rt. 3, Boaz; a daughter, Miss Joyce Marie Maddox, Rt. 3, Boaz; her mother, Mrs. Hettie Owings, Sylacauga, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. W. H. Counts of Opelika, Ala.; three brothers, A. H., Tom and Bill Owings, all of Sylacauga, Ala. She was a native of Clay County, and has resided at Shady Grove for 15 years. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church and the David Morton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
