Sunday May 18th at the home of her son, Ernest McMurtrey in Hokes Bluff after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Tuesday at the Liberty Baptist Church at Alford's Bend in Etowah County with the Rev. Emory Pankey, Rev. Dewey Bouldin and Rev. Holderfield officiating. Burial was in adjoining cemetery with Gillespie-Barksdale directing. Active pallbearers were J. T. Lancaster, Ray Wise, Albert Croft, Edward Milner, Talmadge Wise and Randolph Croft. Surviving are three sons, Carl McMurtrey, Boaz Route 5, Hugh McMurtrey, Boaz Route 1 and Ernest McMurtrey of Hokes Bluff; a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice McCoy, Glenco; nine grandchildren; five great-grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Will Wise, Alford's Bend and Mrs. Ada Lancaster, Gadsden. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in DeKalb County and the wife of the late C. W. McMurtrey.
