NORTON JACKSONVILLE---William Abercrombie (Willie) Norton, 74, of Jacksonville, Rt. 2, died Friday at 3 p.m. at Gadsden after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Ohatchee Baptist Church No. 2 with the Rev. Floyd McLeod officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Owens Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by two sons, William Curtis of Gadsden and Leonard of Oxford; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Godfrey of Piedmont, Mrs. Lorene Carr of Jacksonville, Mrs. Estelle Smith of Decatur, Mrs. Lucille White of Mobile and Mrs. Leona Keis of Houston, Tex.; one brother, Welston Norton of Hokes Bluff; six sisters, Mrs. Daisy Ford of Hokes Bluff, Mrs. Nell Zirngiebel Johnson of Warner Robins, Ga., Mrs. Clara Stewart of Boston, Massachusetts; Mrs. Lula Crossley of New York City, and Mrs. Bessie Eubanks of Gadsden and Mrs. Geneva Starnes of Warner Robins, Georgia, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until it is taken to the church an hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be Bobby Johnson, Maurice Green, Billy Green, Ralph Green, Hollis Welch and Harold Boozer. Born in 1893 at Hokes Bluff, Etowah County, Mr. Norton moved to Calhoun County with his parents at an early age where he resided most of his life. He was a deacon at Ohatchee Baptist Church No. 2.
