Funeral services were held at Carlisle Baptist Church July 10 at 2 p. m. for 
Mr. Sam Powell, Boaz, age 69.
He had been an active member of the church for 49 years.  He had been a deacon 
also of his church also of his church.  He was a resident of Etowah County all 
his life.
Rev. W. D. Parrish, Rev. Gurley Bartlett and Rev. Emory Pankey conducted 
services with Fiquett Brown Service directing.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Della Powell and six children; 2 sons, Dallas and 
William; 4 daughters, Mrs. E. L. Isbell, Mrs. W. E. Ramey, Misses Vernell and 
Evelyn Powell, all of Boaz; two brothers, Henry and Greer of Birmingham; 1 
sister, Mrs. S. J. Brewals of Boaz.
Nephews and nieces handled the floral.  Interment in Thrasher Cemetery.
