Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Higginbotham, Rev. Scott Bryant and Rev. Roland Clemmons officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery will Gillespie-Barksdale directing. He is survived by six sons, Homer Rosser of Calhoun, Ga., Hoyt and Rev. Ralph Rosser of Boaz, Troy Rosser of Chattanooga, Claud Rosser of Cleveland and Clyde Rosser of Breman, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Whitt of Boaz amd Mrs. Clara Chamblee of Route 1 Boaz; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lavenia Ferguson of Birmingham and Mrs. Nelia Camp of Centre; and one brother. T. E. Rosser of Center. Mr. Rosser was a retired farmer and a native of Georgia. He moved to Sardis from Cherokee County in 1911. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and W.O.W. Additional Comments: ROSSER REUNION Published Thursday, September 15, 1949 in The Boaz Leader The annual family reunion of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rosser was held at Ellis' Cabin, a few miles from the old Rosser homestead, Sunday, September 4th. Mrs. Ella Rosser and family were hosts to this gathering. The J. A. Rosser's had six children. Five of these, Mrs. J. H. Camp, Mrs. J. A. Ferguson, Mr. D. E. Rosser, Mr. W. W. Rosser and Mr. J. T. Rosser were present with their children and grandchildren. At noon, a basket lunch was spread in the dinning room with Ella Rosser and family furnishing the barbecue. Ninety-seven people enjoyed this get-to- gether. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Early Rosser and family, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Good and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Hawthorne and daughter, and J. A. Ferguson from Birmingham. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rosser and Sandra, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Rosser, Miss Clara Rosser, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Rosser, Mrs. Myrtle Collins, Mr. Guy Walden, and Mrs. J. W. Ferguson, of Boaz. Mrs. Ella Rosser, Mr. and Mrs. Debs Rosser and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Rosser and son, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ellis and Hayden, Mr. W. A. Ellis, and Mr. Whitt Waldrop of Spring Garden. Mr. and Mrs. D. Rosser of the Sardis Community celebrated his 86th birthday at his home Sunday when his children and grandchildren brought baskets of food and appropriate gifts for the occasion.
