STEWART Carl Maxwell Stewart, 54, 23 Sandusky Avenue, died Friday in a Torrance, Calif., hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at Kyle Avenue Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m., tomorrow, with the Revs. Buster Latimer and Leon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery, with Collier-Butler Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers will be Carl Hyfield, Dault Erwin, James Hill, J. D. Redden, Harvey Simmons and Jeff W. Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Barron, Walter Cagle, Walter Nipper, Calvin Peterson, Herman Roberts, E. O. Smith and all other personal friends. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lodie England Stewart; one daughter, Mrs. James R. Redden, Columbus, Ga.; his mother, Mrs. Lottie Stewart, Gadsden; one brother, Orlie Stewart, Attalla; one sister, Mrs. Cora Alverson, Huntsville; and two grandchildren, David and Danna Redden, Columbus, Ga. A native of Greenville, S.C., Mr. Stewart was a resident of Etowah County for the most of his life. He was a textile and construction worker.
