Funeral service were held at Carlisle Baptist Church at 11 a. m. Sunday, August 21s, with Rev. Emory Pankey assisted by Rev. Denny Parrish officiating and Fiquett-Brown Service directing. Great-grandsons served as pallbearers and the following close friends handled the floral: Medames Elaine White, Maude Martin, Vera Blackmon, Caroline Blackmon and Misses Elsie Bartlett, Nina Brewster and Irene Hubbard. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery. The unusually large crowd attending the funeral attested to the fact that Mrs. Vincent's 100 years were well lived. Mrs. Vincent was born May 2, 1849 in Campbell County, Georgia. She had been a resident of Etowah County for 55 years and was a member of the Baptist Church for 82 years. She is the widow of the late J. B. Vincent and the daughter of the late Jane Kyle and M. B. Jackson. She is also the fourth cousin of General “Stonewall” Jackson and descendant of Andrew Jackson. She is survived by three daughters, Miss Mertie Vincent, Mrs. Odessa Murdock, Boaz and Mrs. Eva Bearden, Steele; one brother, M. B. Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
