Whitt August 20, 1886 – November 29, 1969 Published December 4, 1969 Sand Mountain Reporter Willie H. Whitt, 83, of Boaz, Route One (Happy Hill Community), died Saturday, Nov. 29 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 1 from the Whitesboro Baptist Church with Revs. Ted Scott, Brown Hallmark and Gerald Jacobs officiating. Burial followed in adjoining cemetery with Carr Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Velda Whitt; three daughters, Mrs, Imo Harris of Gadsden, Mrs. Eloise Murphy of Georgia and Mrs. Della Samples of guntersville; four sons, Lowell Whitt and Bobby Whitt of Boaz, William H. Whitt and Ellie Whitt of Gadsden; one step-daughter, Mrs. Frances Hyatt of Steele; four step-sons, Robert Bellew, Finus D. Bellwe and Hershel Bellew of Atlanta and Carl Bellew of Boaz; 13 grandchildren; eight great-children; one brother, Carl Whitt of Texas. Mr. Whitt was a native of Etowah County. He was also a member of the Boaz Masonic Lodge No. 546. Additional Comments: Willie was the local veterinarian and singing school teacher.
