Emmett Whitt Published Thursday, November 7, 1963 in The Boaz Leader Funeral services for S. Emmett Whitt, 58, Boaz Route 1, who died at his residence in the Happy Hill Community at 4 a. m. Saturday, were held Sunday at 2 p. m. at the Happy Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Melvin Sherbert, Roberts Jones, Brown Hallmark, Raymond Cook and Jack Lambert officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery with Carr-Brown Service Mortuary directing. The active pallbearers included L. B. Parrish, Matt Noble, Charlie Stepleton, Houston Tolleson, Bill Allen, Brown Hill, Charlie Killian, Byron Gaines, Dee Bellamy and Buster Whitt. The honorary pallbearers included Dr. Marston T. Hunt, the Board of Deacons of Happy Hill Baptist Church, the Bible Class and all personal friends. Mr. Whitt was a native of Etowah County, an Employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Gadsden and a member and Deacon of the Happy Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Violet Whitt; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Hibbs of Boaz, Mrs. Margaret Nunn, Texas and Mrs. Gail McKinney, Florida; his father, Walter Whitt, Boaz; two brothers, William Loy Whitt, Boaz and Oscar Floyd Whitt, Attalla; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hill, Mrs. Julia Maroney and Mrs. Lillian Stonicher, all of Boaz; and six grandchildren.
