Explosion Kills Welder’s Helper

PRICHARD, Ala. (AP)—An empty oil tanker-truck exploded Tuesday, killing an 18-
year-old welder’s helper and injuring the truck driver.

Fumes in the truck were set off by sparks from a welder’s torch.

Hank Williams of Mobile was killed as he stood behind the tanker part of the 
rig.

The driver, James L. Hooker, 27, McIntosh, Ala., was slightly injured.
