Published Thursday, March 17, 1949 in The Boaz Leader
D. N. “Uncle Dave” Wise, age 80 years, died at his home after a long illness.  
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13th at Sardis Church with the Rev. 
George Gaskin and Rev. Morgan Gaines officiating.
Mr. Wise had resided in Etowah County for the past fifty years and was a member 
of the Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lonie Mae Wise; one daughter, Mrs. W. H. 
Edmondson, Boaz Rt. 2; three step-daughters, Mrs. Carl Gaines, Boaz Rt. 1, Mrs. 
Howard Broadwell, Boaz Rt. 1 and Mrs. Brock Hill, Attalla Rt. 2; two stepsons, 
Mr. Lamar Maise, Boaz Rt. 1 and Mr. Ross Maise, Dallas, Tex.; seventeen 
grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Ross Maise, Lamar Maise, Newton and Jimmy Edmondson and 
Howard Broadwell.
The granddaughters acted as flower girls with Drinkards Funeral Home directing.
