Wood George William Wood, 84, 402 Taylor Street, East Gadsden, died at 10:30 a.m., yesterday in a local hospital, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., tomorrow in Collier-Butler Chapel, with the Revs. Freeman Smith and J. F. Breeden officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery, with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be C. H. Bryant, Andy Gardner, Billy Bryant, O. P. Couch, Otis Cook, Virgil Evans, B. Nelson, Johnny Harris and David Hood. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Evans Wood; two daughters, Mrs. O. P. Couch, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Myrtle Bryant, Gadsden; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. A native of Georgia and a resident of Gadsden for 50 years, he was a retired watchman with the City of Gadsden and a member of Black Street Baptist Church.
