Richards and J.M. Hood are held and firmly bound unto the Sate of Alabama in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, to the which payment, well and truly made to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 19th day of February, 1885 The condition of the above obligation is such, that if there be no legal cause to obstruct the Marriage of J.L. Richards and Mary E. Flood to whom a License has this day been granted, then to be void; else to remain in full force and virtue. Witness our hands and seals the day and year above written J.L. Richards J.M. Hood The State of Alabama, Etowah County To any Ordained or Licensed Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or Probate Courts, or Justice of the Peace for said county - Greeting: You are hereby authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony between J.L. Additional Comments: James Luster Richards was the youngest child of Hartwell Luster Richards and Sarah Ann Spingfield, both originally from S. Carolina. James L. Richards and his family lived for a time in Gadsden, but resided near Dawson in De Kalb County for most of their lives. James and Mary are buried at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery in Dawson, De Kalb County.
