Etowah County Marriage Records- Book A, Page 215-A
The State of Alabama, Etowah County-To any ordained Minister of the Gospel, 
Judge of the Circuit or Probate Courts, or Justice of the Peace for said 
County---Greeting: 
   You are hereby Authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony
between Benj'm Oliver and Amanda Whitton and this shall be your sufficient 
authority for so doing. Given under my hand and seal this 11th day of August
A.D. 1875-L. E. Hamlin, Judge of Probate. 
   The above named parties were married by me at Wesley Perkins on the 13 day 
of August A.D. 1875-R. D. Box, Justice of the Peace.


The State of Alabama, Etowah County
   Know all Men by these Presents, That we, Benj'm Oliver and R. B. Rhea are 
held and firmly bound unto the State of Alabama in the sum of Five Hundred 
Dollars, to the which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, 
our heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly
by these presents.
   Sealed with our seals and dated this 11th day of August 1875.
   The Condition of the above obligation is such, that if there be no legal 
cause to obstruct the Marriage of Benj'm Oliver and Amanda Whitten to whom a
License has this day been granted, then to be void; else to remain in full 
force and virtue.
   Witness our hands and seals the day and year above written.

   I know Miss Mandy Whitten and know her to be over Eighteen years of age. I
