Wisdom, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, declare this to be my Last Will and Testament: 1st: It is my Will that all just debts or charges against me, together with all my funeral expenses be fully paid. 2nd: It is my Will that/an inexpensive marble monument be placed to mark the graves of myself & wife S.A. Wisdom, now deceased. 3rd: I give & bequeath to my daughters Mary and Lou Jointly, all of my household effects of whatsoever kind. 4th: I give & devise to my son, Jas. L. Wisdom, to hold & use in trust during his natural life for his children after him, eighty acres of land known as the "Vanderford place" and fully described in a deed from Cynthia Vanderford et als to J.H. & H.A. Wisdom, should said lands not belong to me at my death it is my Will that my said son Jas. L. shall have other property or money of my estate amounting to Two Hundred Dollars to be held and used in trust for his children. 5th: All the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate, I give, devise & bequeath to my several children, their heirs & assigns forever, except as hereinafter mentioned as follows, to-wit:-- To Mary E. Wisdom, Two (2) shares " Lou " One (1) " " H.A. " One (1) " " J.L. " One (1) " " Fannine D Jones One (1) " " R.F. Robertson One (1) " " Julia Hollis One (1) " " Belle Moore One (1) " It is my Will the one share of my daughter R.F. Robertson, be held and used by her along in trust for her children during her natural life. 6th: I appoint Robt. L. Moore, husband of my daughter Belle Moore, executor of my Will and desire that he shall not be required to give Security for the performance of/his duties or account to make settlement with any maginstrate or other official of the State or County, except at the expense of those persons requiring same, to be done of or his own choice in which last event the expense thereof shall be/paid out of my estate. It is also my desire that my said Executors, shall receive 5% Commission in payment for his services. 7th: In the event of the said Robt. Moore declining or not being able to serve as my said Executor, I name his brother J.Will Moore to take his place in every respect. 8th: It is my Will that my said Executor shall exercise his discretion or judgment when to sell, divide or distribute my estate, real or personal except that sufficient thereof shall be sold to meet the requirements named in the 1st & 2nd clauses hereof. In Witness Whereof, I, J.H. Wisdom have hereunto set my hand & seal this 20th day of April, 1905. J.H. Wisdom, (L.S.) Subscribed by the Testator in the presence of each of us at the same time declared by him to as his Last Will and Testament. Witness our hands this 20th day of April, 1905. W.H. Boozer A.S. White Additional Comments: John Henry Wisdom was born in Georgia on June 10, 1820 and died in Hokes Bluff Etowah County Alabama on July 28, 1909. He married Susie Ann Silvey, who was born on November 15, 1825 and, died at Hokes Bluff in Etowah County Alabama on July 28, 1909. Known as the "Paul Revere of the South" John Wisdom made an heroic 67 mile ride via buggy, horse plus mule, on May 2, 1863 from Gadsden to Rome, Georgia, arriving just before midnight in order to warn that National Forces troops were headed towards Rome to burn and sack their city. His name and actions were celebrated in Rome, Georgia, and, the citizens of Rome and Floyd County Georgia presented him with a sterling service tea set after the ending of the War Between The States.
