McNees ================================================================================ November 2002 TOMPKINS CEMETERY AT BELGREEN, NEAR RUSSELLVILLE IN FRANKLIN COUNTY, ALABAMA This cemetery was read in the fall of 1999 by Jeanie Bullock McNees, ggggrandaughter of Humphrey and Elizabeth Weeden Tompkins through their son, William Weeden Tompkins and his wife, Harriet Hyde Tompkins. November 20, 2002 This cemetery is in good condition and most of the old markers each have a newer marker placed next to it. Several markers, which are unmarked or unreadable, of slaves lie just beyond the family plots. It is said that Humphrey's personal servant asked to be buried at the head of his master's grave, which was done. 1.
