B. ALBRITTON Mr. J. B. Albritton, age 75, died at his residence a few miles above Hartford early Wednesday, July 13 and was buried at Providence, below Bellwood Wednesday afternoon with Chancy in charge. Funeral service was held in Providence church at 4:30 P. M. conducted by Rev. A. D. Zbinden, assisted by Rev. S. D. McCormick. The deceased is survived by this wife and the following sons and daughters: Roy Albritton, Ft. Pierce, Florida, Carthell Albritton and Misses Waunita and Edith Albritton, Newton Rt. 1. Mrs. Sim Weeks, and Mrs. Burt Pate, Newton, Rt. 1, Mrs. Homer Metcalf, Hartford, and Mrs. O.H. Snider, Albany Ga. Mr. Albritton taught school in his early life and for many years he took an active interest in political, civic and religious affairs. At one time he served as county treasurer and had served in other positions of trust. Till recently he was post-master at Bellwood. The son of a pioneer Baptist minister, Mr. Albritton was a faithful Christian and for many years had been a devoted member of the Baptist church and served several years as a clerk of the Geneva County Baptist Association. Mr. Albritton was one of the most widely known citizens of this county having been identified for years with the political, civic and religious affairs of the county. He was a man of splendid mental attainments and had a remarkable memory. He knew more about the history of Geneva County than any man living, a close observer and being identified in one-way or another. He could recount the history, giving facts, names and dates in a way hat was marvelous even to our older citizens. About four years ago there appeared serially in the News-Herald a brief history of the county by Mr. Albritton. This contains much valuable information not recorded elsewhere. Recently with eh endorsement of the board of county commissioners, Mr. Albritton announced his intention of writing a complete history of Geneva County to be published in books form. What progress he had made of this work is not known here.
