MR. OSCAR GALILEO MYERS, 93, of Samson, Geneva Co., AL, died July 12, 1979 in 
an Enterprise Hospital, Coffee Co.  Funeral services for Mr. Myers were held at 
1 p.m. Sat. at Hagler Funeral Home Chapel with the reverends George Edens and 
James Sanders officiating.  Burial followed in the Travelers Rest Cemetery, 
Samson, with Hagler Funeral Home directing.  Mr. Myers was born in Pike Co. and 
moved to Samson in 1922, together with his wife Lennye D. Myers.  He graduated 
from Troy State College in 1914, University of Alabama in 1916, and taught 
school while earning his way through university.  He was on the Samson School 
Board for a number of years.  He had been in merchandising and retailing in 
Samson for 43 years before closing his department store and retiring in 1965.  
Mr. Myers was predeceased by a son, Royce Hayden Myers, who died as a child.  
Survivors include his wife, Lennye Davis Myers of Samson; two daughters, Mrs. 
Essie Freeze of Huntsville, AL, and Mrs. Nita White of Enterprise, AL; one son, 
Neil Oscar Myers of Waynesboro, VA; twelve grandchildren, eight great-
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
