SHIVEY – Geneva Co., Ala. Sister Ada M. Shivey died Oct. 1, 1968, after a long illness. She was nearly 96 years of age She joined Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church 74 years ago and was a member of the Mitchell family, prominent in Primitive Baptist circles in Alabama. The writer was her pastor some 20 years – and what a faithful member she was. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Elder J. J. Collins, at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, Ala., Geneva Co., assisted by a great- grandson, Don Dean, a Methodist minister. Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery, Malvern, Ala., also Geneva Co. She is survived by three sons, Lennie, Roy, and Wyatt Shivey; four daughters, Mrs. Lena Smith of Dothan, Mrs. Pearl Dean of Hartford, Mrs. Mary Farmer of Slocomb, and Mrs. Jewell Avery, Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Albert Mitchell of Slocomb; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Smith of Dothan; 41 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. – J.
