MARCUS S. SMITH – Geneva Co. / Dale Co., Ala.
	Marcus S. Smith of Hartford, Ala., died suddenly Sun., Dec. 29, 1957.  He was a
native of Newton, Ala., and had a large circle of friends.  He was most active
in educational life and was a firm believer in Christ.
	He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary J. Smith; two sons, Jack and Jerry P.;
one daughter, Mrs. Lorene McLamy of Crestview, Fla.; three brothers, Alvin,
Sumpter, and Marlin; one sister, Mrs. Eula Raines; and five grandchildren.
	Brother Smith held an important position with the Houston Hotel in Dothan,
Ala., and was active in civic affairs.  Funeral services were conducted at
Hartford Methodist Church on Dec. 30, 1957, by Elder J. J. Collins and pastor J.
S. Lock.  Interment was in Hartford City Cemetery.
