[CHARLEY] ZORN – Geneva Co. / Barbour Co., Ala. William C. Zorn died at his home in Clio, Ala., July 13, 1957, after an extended illness. He was 79 years of age. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Elbert Hall, Dothan, Ala.; Mrs. L. L. Gilmore, Eufaula, Ala.; Mrs. Wilson Dykes, Clio; Hubert, Slocomb, Ala.; John and Carmi, Dothan, Ala.; one brother, Jim Zorn of South Florida; two sisters; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Brother Zorn was a native of Florida but had lived near Malvern, Ala., for many years. He was a firm believer in salvation by grace and loved Sacred Harp singing. Funeral arrangements were in the charge of Ward-Wilson Funeral Home, Dothan, with Elder J. J. Collins and Mr. Jim Farmer officiating at Bethlehem Church on July 14, 1957. (Elder) J. J. (Charley) Zorn’s wife’s name was Willie, and children named in a Census or two are Lucy (who married Elbert Hall), Hubbard/Hubard, Genie, Baby Zorn, and John. Charley may have been the son of William H. (Bill) and Georgia A. Zorn. One record shows he was born 12-12-1878 in Barbour Co., Ala. The 1910 US Census shows the family name as “Zora,” and the 1940 US Census shows W. Charlie and Willie B. with the name “Zome” and living, both at age 61, in the household of daughter Lucy Hall and family.
