MOORE'S WILL In the name of God Amen. I John Moore of Greene Co. Ala being weak in body but sound and perfect mind and inemory, blessed by Almighty God for saine, do make and or­dain this iny last will and testament, in manner and form following-(that is to say). First-I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Mary Moore, four choice negroes, with the household and kitchen furniture, plantation unten­sils, etc - with all the livestock of every description during her natural life or widowhood. I also give unto my wife ~lary two thousand dollars. I also loan unto my son Elijah Moore one negro boy named Jerry during his life and then to the heirs of his body if any, if none, toreturn again to mine and equally divided among the rest of my heirs - I also give and bequeath to my son Lewis Moore one negro boy named Buster and $50.00 to purchase him a bed and for furniture, also one sorrel horse, saddle and bridle. I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly C. Moore one negro girl named Mirica, and $100.00 for to purchase two beds and furniture. I also give her one horse, saddle and bridle worth $125.00, one cow and calf and one sow and pig. I also give and bequeath unto my daughters Sally Forston, Fanny Duprey, Hester Minters and Polly Moore and my son Lewis Moore, two hundred and fifty apiece and unto my son Elijah Moore I loan two hundred and fifty dollars during his life and then if he has any living heirs of his body I give the same to them, if he has none at his death this money is to be returned to my lawful heirs out of his estate without my interest on the same. All the negroes that are not before specified in this my last will and testament are to be equally divided among my children and also all the notes, bonds, and accounts that may here after be collected, be equally divided among all my children, the money before named excepted, my son Elijah only excepted, and to him I loan his equal share both of negroes and money during his life and at his death if he should leave any lawful heirs of his body the same part which I loan him I give unto them, if he leaves no lawful heirs or heirs of his body the same part to him loaned to be returned to my lawful heirs and equally divided but no inter­est on the above loan if returned. (N.B.) The property which I gave and bequeathed unto my wife Mary Moore she is to have and to hold with all the appurten­ances there unto annexed during her life or widowhood and at her death or marriage the property of every description to be gathered and equally divided among my lawful heirs, my son Elijah excepted. Hereby renouncing all former wills by me made. I hereby appoint John Fortson, Peter Minter and Elijah Moore as Executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand this third day of May, 1823.
