Nevins (Army serial No. 96887), sergeant, Company F, 167th Infantry. For extraordinary heroism in action near Sergy, France, July 28, 1918. Crossing 500 yards of ground swept by intense machine-gun and artillery fire, he went to the rescue of a wounded soldier. He carried the wounded man back to our lines, inspiring by his example all who saw his heroic act. Residence at enlistment: Moundville, Ala.
