H. Flinn, died at the family home Northeast of Greensboro on the 27th. Unknown source. In Memoria After several weeks of patient suffering, the gentle spirit of Mrs. Mary Lee Flinn (formally Underwood) winged its way from earth to heaven on Saturday night June 27th 1896. The deceased in early life consecrated herself to God and joined the Presbyterian church, remaining a consistent and devoted member till her death. On December 24, 1891, she married W. H. Flinn, and at once became the light and joy of his home. The influence of her gentle self sacrificing spirit was felt by all who came in contact with her, and she soon won the affections of a large circle of friends. The large concourse of friends and neighbors that gathered at Mt. Hermon cemetery to pay their last sad tribute of love to her memory attest the strong regard in which she was held. She leaves an aged mother, a devoted husband, a bright child of three summers and many relatives and friends to mourn her death. But they sorrow not as those without hope. "She is not dead! She has but passed Beyond the mists that blind us here into the new and large life Of that serener sphere. She has but dropped her robe of clay To pull her shining raiment on; She has not wandered far away She is not, lost nor 'gone'."
