Wednesday, May 23, 1888 Page Two Another Murder in Henry One of the most cruel and diabolical murders that has ever been committed in this portion of the State, was committed at Abbeville last Friday. One Levi Bruner, well known to the people of this place, killed a Negro by the name of Raif Washington. It appears that Levi and Raif went fishing and while there some disturbance arose, and Levi knocked him in the head and pitched him in the creek. The body of the Negro was found the next day, an inquest held, and the Negro Levi Bruner lodged in the county jail. Levi lived in and around Ozark for many years and has a wife and several children living near this place at present. Will murders never cease in Henry? Additional Comments: Transcriber's note: The first name of the deceased may be Ralf. The print was blurred and it was difficult to be certain.
