Henry Y. Webb, one of the Judges of the Superior Court of Alabama died in that State on the 20th of Sept. last.-- Judge Webb was a resident of Lincoln county, in this State, a number of years previous to his removal to Alabama, and was always esteemed a very useful citizen, an amiable man, and correct lawyer. A friend in Lincolnton sent us, last week, a neat obituary notice of Judge Webb, which we are obliged to defer till next week, for want of room. Western Carolinian Oct 28, 1823 (Salisbury, North Carolina) DIED At his residence in Henry county, Alabama, on Saturday, the 20th Sept. last, the Hon. Henry Y. Webb, one of the Judges of the Superior Courts in that State, after a lingering illness of sixteen days. He was holding court at Erie, when first attacked by the billious fever; he set off, as soon as possible, for home, and arrived at his residence the second day of his indisposition; where he was confined to that bed from whence he rose no more. He has left a very affectionate wife and five small children to mourn with many relations and friends their irreparable loss. To write a lengthy eulogy is unnecessary, as all who knew him, knew him but to love and respect him. He was long a practitioner at the bar of this district, and was one of the first appointed to fill the judicial chair in the State of Alabama. He possessed the esteem and friendship of all who knew him, he was a fond and loving husband, a tender and indulgent parent, and obliging neighbor, and an honorable man. He died with the full assurance of heaven, and with the hope of arriving at the happy land "where the wicked cease from troubling, and the weary are at rest." His last wishes were, that his children should be taught to love the Lord, and "remember their creator in the days of their youth." (Communicated) Lincolnton, N. C.
