Michael Augustus Whatley was born in Otho, Henry Co., AL, April 13, 1844 and 
died Oct. 1, 1911 in Ft. Gaines, Clay, GA.  He is buried in New Park Cemetery 
in Ft. Gaines.  Gus was the son of William Blanks Whatley and Jane F. Davis 
Whatley of Henry Co., AL.  He was a Sgt. in the Alabama Infantry, Co. D, 39th 
Regt.  He married Mary Rhydonia Farmer in Henry Co. on Oct. 28, 1869.  They had 
10 children. Picture taken about 1870.
