Reynolds Methodist Episcopal Church, South Know all men by these presents: That we, W. J. Reynolds and Lura V. Reynolds his wife, of Houston County, in the State of Alabama, in consideration of the sum of five Dollars ($5.00) payable as follows: the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold and released and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto Henry Branton, J. C. Clark, E. Clark, J. E. McGilivary, W. J. McDonald, R. A. Lee and H. S. Woodard are Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, of Dothan circuit and their successors in office, as from time to time appointed according to the laws and usages of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, and under and pursuant to the laws of this state, all that tract of land situated in Houston County and State of Alabama and described as follows to-wit: Beginning at a point on the Daleville Road 70 yards west of SW corner of Piney Grove Graveyard running south 70 yards, thence west 35 yards, thence north 70 yards, thence east 35 yards to the starting point. Said land being a part of the NW 1/4 of NW 1/4, Section 17, Township 3, Range 25. To have and to hold the said premises above described together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any use or appertaining, unto the said Trustees and their successors and assigns forever. In Trust that said premises shall be used, kept, maintained and disposed of as a place of divine worship for the use of the ministry and membership of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south; subject to the usage, discipline, and ministerial appointment of said Church, as from time to time authorized and declared by the General Conference of said Church and by the Annual Conference within whose bounds the said premises are, or may be hereinafter be situated. Whenever it shall become necessary, or may be deemed expedient by the proper authorities of said Church to sell or otherwise dispose of the said bargained premises, or any part thereof, they may and are hereby empowered, to sell or otherwise dispose of and convey the same by and through the said Trustees and their successors under and pursuant to the Rule and Regulations of the Discipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, then and at that time in force, fully discharged of all limitations, uses and trusts herein imposed and the grantee or purchaser shall in no event be responsible or liable for the application or reinvestment of the proceeds of such sale. A lien is hereby expressly retained on said property to secure the payment of the unpaid purchase money. The grantors do hereby bind themselves, heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and defend, all and singular, the said premises unto the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, of Dothan circuit, their successors and assigns, against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof, and the said grantor does hereby waive and relinquish all rights of dower and homestead in and to said premises. Hawthorne, a JP for said County and State, hereby certify that W. J. Reynolds and Lura V. Reynolds, whose names are signed to the foregoing conveyance and who are known to me, acknowledged before me this day, that being informed of the contents of this conveyance, they executed the same voluntarily on the date the same bears date. Hawthorne, do hereby certify that on the 17th day of November 1906, came before me the within named Lura V. Reynolds, known to me to be the wife of W. J. Reynolds, who being examined separate and apart from her husband in reference to her signature to the within conveyance, she acknowledged that she signed the same of her own free will and accord.
