Fowler ==================================================================== March 1999 The Dothan Eagle, Monday Afternoon, July 2, 1956 William Isaac (Ikey) Hollis, 20, of Brannon Stand, was injured fatally yesterday when the car he was driving failed to make a curve 15 miles from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and plunged into a river. A graduate of Dothan High School and a junior at the University of Alabama, young Hollis was employed by the aluminum plant at Alcoa near Maryville about three weeks ago. Tennessee Rangers found the vehicle in the Little Pigeon River, Hollis's body still in it. Riding with him was Henry G. Satterwhite, 22, of Atlanta. He was injured and considered in fair condition. Rangers found him by the roadside. A coroner at Sevierville said Hollis apparently died before the car hit the river. The car and body were both under water when discovered. The accident occurred in the Great Smokey Mountain Park area. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Dothan First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the family plot at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery near Jellico, Ward-Wilson directing. Officiating will be the Rev. David Jones, the Rev. Mack Hutson, Dr. Wilbur Walon and Dr. Allen Smith. The body will lie in state at the residence. A member of the 1954 class at Dothan High School, young Hollis was in the Honor Society, a member of the band three years and served as class representative on the Student Council three years.
